An Afternoon at MoMA: Discovering Art in New York

What drew me to visit MoMA this summer?

During my trip to New York City, I knew MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art) had to be on my list. It’s one of the world’s most important collections of modern and contemporary art, and I was excited to see works that I had only admired in classes or online—like Van Gogh’s The Starry Night.

What was my favorite part of the experience?

“Visiting MoMA reminded me that creativity is about slowing down, noticing details,
and letting yourself be surprised.”

I loved how the museum flowed from one gallery to another, making me feel like I was traveling through different eras of creativity. The highlight for me was the room dedicated to the history of design. It gave me a new perspective on how design influences so many products we use every day, from chairs and Post-its to more complex innovations, and how these changes have shaped our modern world.

What did I take away from the visit?

I left with new inspiration for my own creative projects and a sense of how powerful art and design can be in connecting people across time and cultures.
